Still Healing

It's been a few days. My hand is much better, I can almost type. I hoped to be released to go back to work but another two weeks. I'm "not doing as well" as the doctor would like. I still can't feel my fingers. They aren't as numb as before, they're just 'tingle asleep'. You know, that strange feeling when a limb is waking up that almost hurts. I'm wearing a splint. I'm glad the sutures are out. They had started to itch and pull. I have to have therapy, that starts Monday.

Tomorrow's my grandson's 3rd birthday. We'll be celebrating on Sunday. I won't go to the party they are having because my daughter's biological mother will be there and I can't be in the same air space as her. I got him some Tonka trucks. I also picked up 6 DVDs and a couple books. The rest of my household is slack about b-days so I bought the movies and books to cover their butts. I bought a cake at SAMs. I usually make one. He's had a train and a backpack (Dora's) the last 2 b-days. Yeah, I like to cook.

Since I'm limited because of the hand I've been going through cookbooks. I've been looking for easy prep meals. This weekend I'm breaking out the crock-pot. Got to find a way to make chicken in the pot. Shouldn't be hard to find something I just have to be able to do most of the work one handed. Just don't have any strength in my left hand yet.

My favorite holiday is coming. I love Halloween. I've got tomb stones, a reaper and a bunch of little stuff in my yard and house. Unfortunately my yard is so big it isn't very impressive. I like to see the kids all dressed up. I wish trick or treat was still like it was when I was a kid. It was so much fun. Too many crazies too close together these days. We had one old man that would hold out a bowl full of pennies and dimes. When you reached in they were hot. Not hot enough to really hurt you but hot enough to make you pull your hand back. We got smart and put mittens on, two of us almost cleaned him out before he got over the shock and slammed the door in our faces. We had a big neighborhood and he was the only one that was mean.
One halloween I won an AM/FM pocket radio one of the radio stations was giving away. My brother got wind that our neighbor had the radio. I had to say a phrase, something like 'is this the KIOL house', or something like that. OK so I didn't really win, I sort of cheated, but I got the radio. Thanks Bro.

Halloween is my favorite holiday too. I love scaring the bejeezus out of the kids, not the little ones, just the teens that come around. I gave most of my decorations to my nephews a few years ago. My kids are to old to appreciate the coffins, headstones, skeletons, etc. Hope your hand heals more quickly, I am sending some healing energy your way. Looking over cookbooks is fun. I usually find a couple of recipes that turn out delicious. My fav tho are cookie baking books. I look for ways to change my recipes, sometimes with success but most times not. I can't bake a decent cake, but I can bake cookies.
